Your trainer will confirm the training location with you when you book. Generally we do not train dogs inside the house. It is easy for a dog to listen at home, because home is familiar. When your dog trains somewhere unfamiliar with real distractions around, it learns to listen to you anywhere. You can meet the trainers on our about page.

We train dogs across the Springfield area and out through Greene, Christian, Webster, Taney and Stone counties, and we also serve Joplin. We have pages for Branson, Joplin, Ozark, Nixa, Lebanon and Republic. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call us and ask.

You do not have to set a block of time aside every day. We teach you how to build the training into the routine you already have, so it becomes part of walking, feeding and letting the dog in and out rather than another chore. Every program is built this way, from private obedience lessons to board and train.

Private lessons start at $500 for Basic Marker Mastery and $750 for Basic Obedience; board and train starts at $1,950 for the 1 Week Board & Train. Every program, everything included in it and the current price is on our plans and pricing page.

With private lessons your dog stays with you and we train you and the dog together, one hour at a time. With board and train your dog stays with the trainer for one to three weeks, trains every day, and comes home to a two hour handover session that teaches you how to keep it going.

The 2 Week Board & Train at $3,150. It is the program our own pricing page marks as most popular, and it is the one that covers practical everyday obedience off leash, with distraction work, manners and socialization built in.

Basic Obedience is four one hour lessons. Lesson one covers "Come" and "Sit". Lesson two adds the extended sit and "Down". Lesson three adds "Place" and the extended down. Lesson four is loose leash walking. If you want to go further afterwards, the eight lesson Basic & Advanced Obedience program adds distance work, "Sit in Motion" and "Come to Heel". Reliable off leash work comes from board and train, not from lessons. The 2 Week Board & Train is the program built around it. The one week program is deliberately not an off leash program, and their own card says so, so if off leash is your goal choose the two week or the behavior modification program.

Yes. The Behavior Modification Board and Train is built for dogs struggling with dog on dog aggression, dog on human aggression, or both. It is three weeks of board and train plus three one hour sessions, two before boarding and one two weeks after. Muzzle training is required before boarding, with no exceptions. Yes. Therapy Dog Development is two weeks of immersive training that prepares you and your dog for therapy dog testing and certification. It covers the full obedience curriculum plus door, greeting and meal manners and handling distractions in different environments. See the therapy dog training page.

Generally we do not start e-collar training on a dog until it is at least 5 months old. Younger puppies are not left waiting though, and the puppy training page sets out what they can start on now.

Not a problem. We can still train your pup with the clicker and marker method, which gives a new puppy a solid foundation for basic obedience. Basic Marker Mastery is four one hour reward based sessions and includes the leash, clicker and slip lead. We can also teach you how to house train your puppy, so they learn to tell you when they need to go out.

Yes, and it is named as a puppy program rather than an adult one squeezed to fit. The 10-Day Pawsitive Foundation Puppy Board and Train takes puppies from 12 to 24 weeks and is on leash training. The Comprehensive Puppy to Adult Board and Train is both programs together: the 10 day program at 12 to 24 weeks, then the full two week board and train once your dog is between 8 months and a year and a half.

The One Puppy Training Consultation is exactly that. It walks you through the puppy obedience curriculum and what to expect, and covers "Come", "Sit", "Down", "Leave it", crate training and teaching your pup to let you know it needs to go out. There is also an online puppy course listed on our pricing page that you can work through at home.

Your dog will benefit tremendously. Most problem behavior, including biting, chewing and jumping, comes from boredom and a lack of exercise and direction. Training gives your dog a job, and the obedience that comes with it is what earns the freedom to run around off leash and play. An e-collar is a collar with a stimulation mechanism, similar to the e-stim therapy you might get at a chiropractor. The handler holds a remote, which keeps you in control of your dog at up to 400 yards, so your dog gets a lot of freedom and you are not worrying about it running off. It is not a punishment and it is not a shock. It produces a subtle electrical pulse between two contact points, closer to a tickle. An e-collar is included with the Basic Obedience and board and train programs.

No. At our first meeting we put the e-collar on your arm so you can feel how mild the stimulation is, and we use it on ourselves too. It does not burn skin, and it is nothing like a taser. We are dog trainers because we love dogs, and we would never do anything to a dog that we would not do to ourselves.

Almost every owner is surprised by the opposite reaction. When an e-collar is switched on it beeps, and it does not take long for a dog to learn what that beep means. Most dogs come running and sit down in front of you waiting for it to go on, because the collar means going outside, running, playing ball and doing their training. A bored dog is a destructive dog; a trained and exercised dog is a happy one.

No. Inside your home your dog will be listening to you without it on very quickly. We do recommend putting it on before your dog goes outside off leash, because you never know what is going to catch a dog’s attention and you want to keep control. Think of it as an invisible leash, or a seat belt: you wear it every time, because the one time you do not is the time it matters. This is covered in the handover session on every board and train program.

A clicker is a small device that makes a distinct click. The click instantly marks the behavior you wanted, and a treat follows immediately. Because the dog is told the exact moment it got something right, it learns commands much faster. This is the method behind Basic Marker Mastery, our reward based program and the right starting point for a young puppy.

That is fine. E-collar training works on a dog of any size, any shape and any age above 5 months. The same programs and prices apply whatever your dog weighs.

No. Springfield is where most of our clients are, but we regularly work with dogs from Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Branson, Lebanon and Joplin. Board and train in particular travels well, because the dog stays with the trainer for the whole program.

The Basic Obedience and Basic & Advanced Obedience programs include the Off Leash K9 Training e-collar that all our dogs are trained on, plus a 15 foot training leash.
