Training that holds up on the busiest street in the Ozarks
Branson asks more of a dog than most towns do. Between the strip, Branson Landing and a steady stream of visitors, your dog runs into strangers, other dogs and noise on a normal Saturday. We train obedience that keeps working in exactly that kind of environment, through private lessons or an immersive board and train.
Built for how Branson dogs actually live
Branson sits in Taney County, with a small part of the city reaching into Stone County, and US Route 65 runs north and south through it, connecting the town straight up to Springfield. Most of our Branson clients make that drive, and it is the single most common question we get from this end of the service area, so it is worth saying plainly: the drive happens once at drop-off and once at pick-up for a board and train, and on a schedule you set for lessons.
Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo sit on either side of town and the White River runs through the area. Water, boats, campgrounds and busy lakefront paths are a normal weekend here, and they are also where a dog's recall gets tested hardest. A dog that comes when called in the back yard is a different animal on a crowded boardwalk with food, ducks and forty strangers in view.
That is the gap the two week board and train is built to close. Your dog spends two weeks living and working with the trainer, finishing off leash, outdoors, with distractions deliberately in play, and the package covers door, greeting and meal manners along with socialization around people and other dogs. It is the program most Branson owners end up choosing.
What your dog learns with us in Branson
The core commands
Come, sit, place, down, heel and off. The same six commands sit at the base of every Off Leash K9 package, whether you train in lessons or send your dog for board and train.
Loose-leash walking
The fourth basic obedience lesson is loose-leash walking, so your dog walks beside you instead of towing you down the sidewalk. A 15 ft training leash is included with the package.
Off-leash reliability
Built through the two week board and train, where your dog works off leash, outdoors, with real distractions in play. It is a board and train outcome, not something lessons alone deliver.
Manners that hold up in public
Door, greeting and meal manners, plus socialization around people and other dogs and high-level distraction proofing, all covered in the two week board and train.
Daily updates, then a full handover
Your trainer sends daily updates with a photo or video while your dog is with them, and finishes with a two hour one-on-one session showing you how to handle everything your dog has learned.

What Southwest Missouri dog owners say
“I cannot say enough good things about the team at Off Leash K9 Training. From start to finish they have made things incredibly easy and straightforward. My trainer, Bre, is truly a master of her craft. It is stunning to see the progress that she has made with my dog, an 8 month old German Shepherd.…”
“Our Australian Shepherd was a very anxious boy with lots of energy and a stubborn streak. Since we had only had him for a couple months, I was very nervous to have him go to training for two weeks. McKenzie was amazing.…”
“Breanna was wonderful with my 7-month mini Bernedoodle! Winnie wasn’t listening to me and actually had gotten away from me a couple times and I was so worried I would lose her! And the nipping and biting at me and any guests was exhausting.…”
Dog training in Branson, answered
Do you train dogs in Branson, MO?
Yes. Branson is inside the area Off Leash K9 Training Southwest Missouri covers. We are not a walk-in storefront, so your trainer confirms the training location with you when you book. One thing worth knowing up front: we generally do not train dogs inside your house. It is easy for a dog to listen at home, and a dog that only listens at home has not really learned the command. Training in an unfamiliar place, with distractions, is what makes obedience hold up anywhere.
How does board and train work if I live in Branson?
You drop your dog off and pick them up, which is the part most Branson owners ask about first. For the one and two week programs your dog lives and trains at the trainer's home for the whole stay, not in a kennel run. You get daily updates with a photo or video of the work, and at the end you sit down for a two hour one-on-one session where your trainer shows you exactly how to handle everything your dog has learned so it holds up once you are home.
How much does dog training cost in Branson?
Obedience lessons start at $650 for the four-lesson basic package and $950 for the eight-lesson basic and advanced package. Board and train runs $1,800 for one week, $2,800 for two weeks, and $3,800 for the behavior modification program. Every price is listed on the plans and pricing page. Payment plans are available. Call us today to learn more about payment options. Those prices are the same wherever you drive in from, including Branson.
How old does my puppy have to be before training starts?
We do not start e-collar training until a dog is at least five months old, and that is our own stated rule on the FAQ page, not a rough guide. If your puppy is younger than that, Basic Marker Mastery is the right starting point: four reward-based sessions using a clicker and marker work to build come, sit, place and loose-leash walking. There is also a 10-Day Pawsitive Foundation Puppy Board and Train for puppies between twelve and twenty-four weeks. Owners in Branson usually start there and move up once the puppy is old enough.
My dog is fine at home but a handful around crowds. Can that be fixed?
That is the most common thing we hear from Branson, and it is normal rather than a sign something is wrong. Obedience learned in a quiet living room has never been tested. The two week board and train is built around practical, everyday obedience finished with high-level distraction proofing, which is the piece that transfers to a busy street. If the problem is aggression toward other dogs or toward people rather than excitement, the behavior modification program is the right one, and your dog needs to be muzzle trained before that program starts.
